Rhantus frontalis
(
Synonym:
Rhantus notatus)
The beetle lies on its back on dry land for a moment to take a photo of the underside. In
contrast to R. suturalis , which has a completely black underside, we see a pattern of black
and yellow/brown here. In females the abdomen segments are yellow (brown) with black spots
on the sides, in males this is the other way around (Foster & Friday, 2009 and Erichson,
1837).
