Rhantus frontalis
(
Synonym:
Rhantus notatus)
Here the beetle has lowered the rear tip of the abdomen slightly, making the edge of the
air supply visible as a mirror surface. See also the first page
about this species, or the page about the underside.
The spots on the pronotum are also clearly visible in this photo, as are the
characteristic dark terminal tips of the antennae (feelers) and the light lines, without
dots, across the elytra (Foster & Friday, 2009).
