Epistylis sp.
sessile peritrichs on Cyclops copepod
Microscope photos (Toupcam 5 Mp). Groups of active Epistylis on a Cyclops copepod, the
cilia are rotating. The many vacuoles are striking. At the top, the brown 'ball': a
dinoflagellate, possibly Glenodinium cinctum. At the bottom right: Synura uvella, a colony of golden
algae.
In the photo below, a number of specimens have retracted their ciliated disc. The stems are quite clearly visible, but no ridges.
