Sessile peritirchs on Cyclops 10 apr 2024
Epistylis sp.
a group of sessile peritrichs on a Cyclops copepod

Microscope photo of the head of a Cyclops copepod, on which are located sessile peritrichs, possibly the species Epistylis digitalis. The specimens that can be seen all have retracted their cilia and shrunk their cellbodies, making them look more like balls on stalks.
