With this crop picture of a larger foto we focus on the 'trident' that is formed by the sharp points of the beak and the frontlegs. What seem like claws, are the fused tarsi (feet). These fall into a groove on the broad, muscular tibia (thigh), forming a trap from which there is no escape. The prey is than pierced with the sharp rostrum (beak).
